Staycation Sunday-Frankenmuth Michigan

As we approach the holiday season, one of my favorite places comes to mind. If you live in or near Michigan, head over to Frankenmuth, Michigan for the day. I visit Frankenmuth whenever I am home visiting friends and family. From the suburbs of Detroit, you can be there in less than two hours.

The town is small and you can cover all of the “major” to-dos in one day. First and foremost, do not miss out on Bronner’s! It is the world’s largest Christmas store. It is the size of one and a half football fields. They have EVERY ornament you can think of and they are categorized very well. You can have your ornaments personalized for free right at the store! It is lit up at night and a great site to see.

Frankenmuth is also well-known for their fudge so don’t miss the Frankenmuth fudge kitchen either. Other great places to check out include the Frankenmuth Toy Company, Satow Drugs (old fashion type of drugstore), Zak’s Candy House, the Frankenmuth Brewery, and the Frankenmuth Cheese Haus. If you love to shop until you drop, there are also outlets nearby in Birch Run.

For lunch or dinner, there are two famous places and I love them both equally (I take turns on which one I eat at when I visit). Zehnder’s of Frankebnmuth (world famous family-style chicken dinners) and the Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn Restaurant (there is a whole resort there).

It is a busy but fun-filled day when you hang out in Frankenmuth, but well worth the trip!
