Savings Saturday-2012 Holiday Challenge

I did a guest post recently over at Budgeting in the Fun Stuff. In the post I mentioned that I plan to spend $80 or less out-of-pocket for Christmas this year for ten people. I wanted to follow up here with a few more specifics on my 2012 holiday challenge. In reality I will spend a total of around $300. However, I plan to utilize a variety of websites to earn cash and Amazon gift cards to pay for the majority of the gifts. I have an Amazon Prime membership so my shipping is free through them.

Here are the sites I use to earn for Christmas:

Swagbucks-Use it for your web searches, do the daily poll, use the toolbar, and click through the no obligation special offers (no need to sign up unless you want to), and grab swagcodes when they come out. Without much effort I usually earn about $15 worth of Amazon codes per month. There are plenty of other gift cards to choose from if you don’t want to cash out for Amazon, but it gives the best return on your “investment”.

Superpoints- Spin the super lucky button daily, open your daily email and cash out for your choice of gift cards or Paypal cash. Again, Amazon gives the best return.

Jingit-Watch videos and answer a few quick survey questions and earn cash on the Jingit debit card. Earnings vary so I simply let it add up and spend it on holiday gifts. My earning potential is $14 per week. However, it is rare I hit that mark.

Crowdtap-Complete your quick hits and earn Amazon gift codes. I average $10 a month on this site.

Pinecone Research-There are tons of survey sites but I love this one because they pay $3 for every completed survey (with the exception of occasional household quick surveys). They decide how to pay you. I have a debit card they load (very timely), two of my friends get paid via PayPal. I have earned $48 this year. I save up the debit card on this one for Christmas too.

Mystery Shopping Items- I do some mystery shopping for extra cash and sometimes I have to buy an item (I am reimbursed in full).  Chances are if it is something I know one of my gift recipients will really like, it will turn into a gift.

That sums up my 2012 holiday challenge. I will give updates as I do my shopping. How much do you spend on Christmas gifts?
