Bookworm Wednesday-Doppleganged

Doppleganged
by Ron P. Whittington

Parker Glynn returns in this second novel produced by Whittington. It is hard to say for sure if this book would make sense without having read the first one. Some mention is made to previous situations without full explanations, but they aren’t really relevant to the current story. Also, if you hadn’t read the first book you wouldn’t find yourself shaking your head wondering if Glynn would ever learn as he repeats the same mistake he had made previously.

The plot this time around is more diabolical but not quite as realistically possible as in his first book Second Strike. Who knows though, maybe someone has already discovered the technology portrayed in this story. I sure hope not. The story is action packed, fast moving and enjoyably suspenseful. I found it an entertaining story, well worth the day it took to read it.

Whittington is refreshingly different from the normal “chick lit” that I am given to read. While I rolled my eyes as women threw themselves at Glynn’s feet and a lot of his actions were influenced by testosterone than anything resembling common sense, I think these books would make great Christmas gifts for the men in your life who enjoy reading. I’m not stating that women shouldn’t read them, just that it seems to me that they were written with a masculine audience in mind.
