Thrifty Thursday-Save On a New Wardrobe

I’ve posted about shopping at thrift stores in the past, but it came to the forefront again for me this week. I was offered a full-time teaching position. I hadn’t been looking for a job; it found me (to make a long story short). Lo and behold, I had to dig through my closet and my “dress” clothes are getting pretty worn (at least my winter items). I have one week to figure out how to save on a new wardrobe and little money to do it with. My goal is to head to the thrift store and purchase a few key pieces. A couple of sweaters and a couple of pair of dress pants. By wearing different shirts underneath the sweaters, it will give them a different look. I can also switch out the pants I wear for yet another look.

Sure, I can put a couple hundred bucks on a credit card and buy more, but as long as my clothes are clean and presentable does it really matter? I am there to do a job, not be a fashion statement. I am sure I can get four to five pieces for under $50 and look and feel pretty good…not to mention keep my wallet a little more full!
