Donating blood is a great idea on many levels. When you donate blood, you help your community, yourself (It’s always a good thing to have a giving nature), and let’s face it-there is often freebies involved.
Personally, due to doctor’s orders (vein issues) I have not been able to donate in years. However, I have had friends and family do so. I would be lying to say they weren’t happy to get the freebies that went along with donating, but it is still noticeable how happy they are to have contributed. It makes one feel good to do it. Besides, you never know, you may need to be the recipient one day!
What kinds of freebies are involved? It varies but the list of things I know people have received include: free tickets to local sports teams, free t-shirts, restaurant coupons for discounts and/or free items, free water, ice cream, and more (if your blood type is rare you may get a fairly large gift card incentive).
So, go give donate blood feel good about what you have done for yourself and community. Get your freebies and use them for gifts, or even better donate them to a local cause in your community-in this case re-gifting is a great idea! Even if you keep the items to use for your family, it is a terrific way to be thrifty!
