Jumpstarting a Job Search

There are many ways to jumpstart a job search. First and foremost, a well-written résumé is essential. Once this is accomplished, it is time to start the search.  The internet has allowed the job search to be a lot easier and productive. Instead of spending hours handing out résumés at local businesses and making phone calls for jobs found in the newspaper, there are many websites available to search.

There are also temp agencies and staffing services that will provide long-term employment. Be sure and utilize these options when carrying out a job search. In addition to searching online and using agencies, the most popular way to find a new job is to network. Talk to friends, family, and former co-workers to see what companies they may be aware of that are hiring.

Do volunteer work (which can also lead to employment) or look at starting your own business. There are many legitimate work-at-home opportunities available today for temporary part-time income. While in limbo, these ideas are key to keeping a  résumé up-to-date.
