Book Two in Eternal Beloved Novel series
Chastity inherited beauty and a natural sex appeal from her mother. It is a small wonder that her mother would even think to name her Chastity. With a dark family secret, that wasn’t much of a secret, hanging over her head, Chastity didn’t have a very happy home life. She used her natural charisma to rise to the top at school though. Head cheerleader, in the “A” crowd, girlfriend of the most popular boy. She could twist any male around her little finger and often did.
Then a new boy showed up at school. Chastity was drawn to him right away, but kept cool. She wanted to use her feminine charms to make him come to her. And when they finally met it wasn’t long before Chastity knew that she had met her soul mate. Her eternal beloved.
I really found it hard to sympathize with Chastity. I found her very self centered. Deceptive might be a little harsh but she definitely wasn’t very forthright. I didn’t think she was a likeable character at all. Everything was me, me, me as far as she was concerned. But then again, she is seventeen going on eighteen and that can be a typical attitude of that age. But it still isn’t pleasant.
A serious plot twist that made me sit up and take notice arrived around the middle of the book. This helped to explain Jared’s strange behavior which had made no sense until this new revelation. There were still some scenes that upon reflection, don’t quite seem to fit and questions that aren’t quite answered.
Though this is the second book in Rodriguez’s Eternal Beloved series, it is not a continuation of the previous story. The connection is more in the Eternal Love theme than a series of stories about the same characters. I would recommend it to readers who enjoy true love romance stories.
