Thrifty Thursday-Rebates

I am generally good about filling out my rebates, however I have been known in the past to put them off and then forget until it is too late to send them in. This is what companies count on. They lure the customer with the rebate knowing a high percentage will never send it in. It is like throwing money out the window. Find a method that works to help you remember to get those rebates out on time and track them to make sure you receive the money.

-Fill out the rebate as soon as you get home from the store. Don’t put it off! If for some reason you can’t do it immediately, send yourself a reminder to do it asap!

-Most rebates require the original receipt. Be sure and make a copy of the form you fill out and the receipt for your records.

-After you fill out the rebate, put the approximate date you expect it on the calendar. If it goes two weeks beyond the date, follow up.

Rebates are a great way to save money, but keep in mind they are similar to coupons. Make sure you don’t buy the product just for the rebate, it should be for something you actually use in your household. The exception would be for a try it free item.

Have you ever forgotten to fill out and send in an important rebate?

Running a Business Frugally

Owning a business is a lot of work, but with persistence and hard work most are successful. One doesn’t necessarily need a university degree to succeed. However, you do need to put in plenty of time, use a lot of common sense, and be able to communicate in a professional manner.

The following are a few tips to get off to a good start no matter what type of business you want to own or already own:

-Attitude-No matter how tough of a day you may be having put a smile on your face and a friendly tone to your voice (or in your writing if communicating strictly via email).

-Be persistent-If you didn’t earn what you expected one week, don’t give up. Look over what you did for the week and see what you can improve.

-Think before you speak-Sometimes excitement causes one to put their foot in their mouth (so to speak). Consider what you need to say to complete a transaction, sale, deal, etc. After all, first impressions are important. You want your customer to return.

-Be frugal-To be clear, don’t overspend on unnecessary items for your business. Do you really need a 24 inch fancy monitor? Buy what you need, but stay within the budget. 0845 numbers are non-geographical numbers that are not assigned to any area. They are free for the owner to receive calls and are cheap to rent, which offers a great cost saving opportunity to a business. Telephone charges can eat up a lot of company’s budget, so it is a good idea to choose a good provider with a nice and memorable number. Moreover, non-geo numbers can help your business create an image of a large national company which can increase sales.

Getting the Perfect Gift-Research

My husband’s birthday is next week and is a musician. Some of his equipment is getting older, so he gave me a list of items he needs as suggestions for his birthday present. I had to educate myself quickly on different guitar strings, capos, guitar picks, and MXR pedals. I know my husband. He will say it is fine and then if he doesn’t like it, let it sit and never use it. Therefore, I did thorough research and did it thoroughly because I hate returning items!  Keep your fingers crossed I got all the right stuff!
