I am generally good about filling out my rebates, however I have been known in the past to put them off and then forget until it is too late to send them in. This is what companies count on. They lure the customer with the rebate knowing a high percentage will never send it in. It is like throwing money out the window. Find a method that works to help you remember to get those rebates out on time and track them to make sure you receive the money.
-Fill out the rebate as soon as you get home from the store. Don’t put it off! If for some reason you can’t do it immediately, send yourself a reminder to do it asap!
-Most rebates require the original receipt. Be sure and make a copy of the form you fill out and the receipt for your records.
-After you fill out the rebate, put the approximate date you expect it on the calendar. If it goes two weeks beyond the date, follow up.
Rebates are a great way to save money, but keep in mind they are similar to coupons. Make sure you don’t buy the product just for the rebate, it should be for something you actually use in your household. The exception would be for a try it free item.
Have you ever forgotten to fill out and send in an important rebate?
