Writing Tip Wednesday-Plural Nouns

The plural form for most nouns requires adding the letter s to the end of the word. Examples include: boys, tables, and dollars.

However, if the noun ends in ch, s, s like sounds, or x the plural form requires -es.

  • ditches
  • Joneses
  • passes
  • boxes

As always there are other exceptions including:

  • child becomes children
  • tooth becomes teeth
  • mouse becomes mice
  • deer remains deer
  • person becomes people

Since there are even more exceptions to talk about, this topic will be continued next week.
