There are many rules for plural nouns as discussed last week. To give you a few more tips, I thought I would share a few more rules when it comes to using plural nouns.
Words that end in a consonant and a y require you to change the y to an i and add es:
- babies
- puppies
- ladies
However if it is a proper noun ending in a consonant and y, leave the y. One example would the Connelly. More than one Connelly would be Connellys.
Words ending in o can cause even more confusion!
- Potato=potatoes
- Tomato=Tomatoes
- Memo=memos
- Stereo=stereos
There is even more to learn about plural nouns and therefore I will do a third and final part next week.
