Crock Pot – Working Woman’s Best Friend

I love my crock pot. I love it so much that I bought myself a bigger one for Christmas. You throw ingredients into it in the morning, plug it in, and have a hot meal waiting for you when you get home from work. The crock pot opens a whole world of culinary possibilities for those who have limited time to devote to cooking.

One of my favorite things, isn’t even a recipe really. Fryer chickens are an incredibly inexpensive way to get chicken into your family’s diet. Put a fryer chicken in your crock pot without adding any water or anything and cook it on low. In a few hours, you have a fully cooked chicken that you can use for casseroles, chicken fajitas, chicken helper, whatever your imagination chooses. You also have a cup or two of chicken broth, no need to buy a can of broth when a recipe calls for it. You can always freeze the broth until you need it.

I had planned to recommend a free crock pot cookbook ebook, called Circle of Friends Cookbook – 25 Slow Cooker Recipes. Unfortunately it is no longer free, but gives you some great crock pot ideas. You can also search the web for crock pot recipes, there are tons out there.

I got a crockpot for Christmas! My hubby does most of the cooking, but I'm hoping to start the crockpot in the mornings to help out.

    So, no water?

    Thanks!
